So I’ve been “into” fitness for awhile now (no, i wont go into my extremely boring rant about my brand-spankin’ new triceps and love of protein bars again)- but i started to get b-0-r-e-d. Same thing, same people, same everything. I tried buying new work-out clothes to “inspire” me (at least that’s what i told mike. . . he totally bought it). But I kept lacking that serious muscle soreness, the one where you can barely walk up and down the stairs, cant wash your hair in the shower, and laughing hurts more than holding the plank for 15 minutes- until now. Currently, i’m sitting upstairs commanding mike to bring me breakfast, with dirty hair. . . Why? Because i’m SORE. Beyond sore actually. And who’s to blame?
The lovely (or not so lovely) ladies at my new studio. HIP (high intensity pilates– but i feel WAY neater saying “ya, i take at HIP.” because then i sound way cooler than i actually am). The studio opened this past weekend, I like to think i was the first in-line to sign up, and that i’m their favorite student.
I’ve been doing pilates for ooooh a year and a half now, and i consider myself good to very good on those fancy machines. Until this past weekend. When HIP had their machines custom built for pure torture. Pure ab, bicep, thigh, calf, and other muscles i didnt know that i have torture. Hey, i even tried zumba last night. AND let me tell you- these canadian hips weren’t meant to salsa, merringue, and whatever else i attempted to do last night. And at the end of it, when i promised myself to go and practice in front of the mirror when i got home, i was too tired and sweaty to do anything but lay in bed watching FOOD network.
So this week’s Love it, keep it is dedicated to my new pilates studio, the 6-pack they’ve promised I’ll have by the time bikini season rolls around, and dirty hair.
If anyone in or around hermosa beach wants to feel the burn- they REALLY need to go and give them a visit. Maybe you can be their second favorite student?
