This past weekend a family emergency took us to Canada. To the town of Oshawa; about an hour outside of Toronto- where my parents grew up. The passing of my babci (grandmother for those of you who don’t speak Polish), who lived a long and eventful 88 years was hard on all of us; but somehow being surrounded by family, friends, and the place where my family spent so many summers seemed right. And we managed to have a little bit of fun while we were up there.
Every summer since I can remember my parents carted all of us kids out to Oshawa to spend a little quality time with the Canadian relatives (yes, some kids got to travel to far off exotic places- while we visited “the shawa”- but we loved it).
who’s ready for lots and lots of boring family pictures (pretty sure everyone in my family just raised their hand).
look how cute my parents are. . .
and how well my brother and sister get along. . .
and how cute mike and i are. . .
awe. . siblings.
siblings in birth order. . .
this is nicoles arch-nemisis. He and 30 of his buddies swooped in on her and knocked her sunglasses clear off her head. . . while we sat there laughing.
poutine = the greatest thing to come out of canada (besides the biebs of course). its fries, cheese, and gravy. and its D-licious.
and i’ll end with another family picture. . . because we’re just all so cute .
