Remember back when you couldn’t see the picture on a screen right after you took it? You had to wait to be pleasantly (or unpleasantly) surprised when you got that roll of film developed and had the prints in your sticky hands. For our trip we figured it was dangerous to take the fancy camera on the boat, so we brought a few disposable underwater cameras with us to document our snorkeling and scuba diving adventures. I got the pictures back yesterday, and it was so much fun to look back and remember our trip!
Cayman has ah-mazing scuba diving. . . The water was 86 degrees (it was a bathtub!), so you don’t have to wear a wetsuit! and while i wasnt allowed to partake in the scuba diving festivities, i got to ride along on the boat and snorkel while everyone else was diving. Mike had SO much fun on his 3 dives while we were there! He got to see such amazing fishies and other sea creatures! His first dive was at a wreck site, and there was a bike down there!
We got to go to sting-ray city one day too! Now I was a bit nervous for this part of the trip, i mean swimming with STING RAYS?! It sounded like a great time, and a great way to get poked by their barbs. BUT the crew of the Moby Dick were amazing and walked us through everything we’d encounter out there! And guess what? it was SO MUCH FUN. Boats have been going to this sand bar and feeding these sting rays for over 30 years, so these animals are like pets to the crews of the ships (they’ve named like 20 of them). . .they’re so tame, and sweet, and they love to be kissed (7 years good luck!).
Here’s mike holding one of the giant female rays. . .
