Happy half birthday! The past six months have seriously flown by, and with each passing day you grow and develop into quite the happy young lady. This past month brought about your ever emerging personality, a few developmental milestones, and some sleep changes- and we couldn’t be more excited for each and every one.
You love to laugh and smile. It’s ever so easy to get you to crack a grin whether it’s by making a giant kissing sound, singing the “no pants dance” song (which we made up just for you), or just rolling and playing on the ground with us. People always seem to comment on what a good time you seem to be having. Diaper changes have suddenly gotten harder as you squirm and roll and laugh and fuss every time we lay you down. you seem to despise laying on your back and would much rather see the world right side up. You’re struggling with the fact that you’re not yet crawling and just can’t seem to get anywhere quick enough- but it’s coming. oh boy it’s coming.
This month brought sitting up, you love to be sitting and playing and it all just clicked one-day. You look so proud when you sit- as if you know what a huge accomplishment you achieved. You’re definitely happiest sitting, staring out, getting to see everyone and everything (we think you might be one of those “independent” babies…no cuddling or swaddling for you!) You also started assisted standing, those little legs are able to bear all your weight (as long as you’re holding onto something), and dare i say its a good thing you haven’t quite accomplished pulling yourself up yet- I’m not ready to lower the crib!
You’re officially sleeping through the night. It felt like the night would never come were you didn’t need to wake up to eat, but it did. And you’ve been sleeping through the night ever since! You love getting your sleep, and with 2-3 naps throughout the day, and a bedtime of 6:30 you truly seem to love your crib. We scatter pacifiers throughout the crib, just in case you wake up in the middle of the night you scoop one up, thrust it into your mouth, and your head hits the mattress again.
Today, on your half birthday, we start swim lessons. i cant wait to get you into the water and teach you how to hold your breath, swim, and just feel comfy in the water. it’s great preparation for all the swimming you’ll be doing coming up!
We love you so much little girl. We can’t begin to tell you how much joy and happiness you bring to our lives, and everyone you meet along the way. That smile of yours is just so contagious! Keep lovin’ life…we can’t wait to check in next month and see what else you have in store for us!
