hello erin »

ten months.

Dear Alexandria-
I can hardly believe ten months have gone by since we welcomed you into this world. Each day brings little wonders, your contagious smile, and lots of exploring.

First up, playtime.  Exploring and discovery are the name of the game this month.  You love to pull yourself to standing and walk along the furniture to reach everything up high (baby proofing definitely became a necessity).  On the ground, you’ve graduated to crawling on all fours…no more army crawl for you!  You’ve taken a new found interest in music of late.  Any time you begin a play session, you make sure to tap the music turtle first, get the tunes going, and proceed to play with something else.  When the music stops, you turn it right back on, and go back to whatever it was you were doing.  Singing songs always brings a smile to your face, as does your new favorite CD “Raffi”  Yup, you heard right.  The same Raffi we children of the 80s grew up listening to.  And guess what?  It’s still as good as it was 25 years ago!  Best to start with the classics before we graduate to Ke$ha and One Direction.

Your first Christmas came and went bringing lots of toys, smiles, and ripped wrapping paper. It was definitely a whirlwind of family, Santa, and presents! Some of your favorites were a tea set, cash register, tee-pee, play house, elephant chair, and baby stroller, and plenty of new books.  We’ve had to completely re-vamp the play room to fit all your new fun things!  Between mom, dad, and both sets of grandparents, you were definitely spoiled this Christmas.  But hey, you only get one first Christmas!
> After Christmas we went to mammoth and hung out in the snow. You took to the snow like you took to water- exploring and crawling all over the soft, white, fluffy flakes.  Getting ready for snow time was a feat in and of itself…we’d bundle you up with bunting and blankets to make sure you were toasty warm.  It was definitely a fun new experience, and we can’t wait to get you out on the ski hill in a few years!

This month has brought so much more than baby babble…it brought talking! You say “mama”, “dada” and “baba”. And babble long steady streams that sound like your own language. We LOVE hearing your voice, and can’t wait until the flood gates open and the sentences come pouring out. You also now point and wave to things you want- if we’re holding you and something grabs your attention to reach and point so mom and dad know what you want.

Lets talk food. You, little girl, are going to turn into a blueberry. You LOVE blueberries! Among your other favorite foods are spaghetti, peas, turkey meatballs, mango, and pesto. Your new way to drink is through a straw, and you seem to be relying on those bottles less and less as food.  It’s a bittersweet transition for sure to see you growing up into a big girl!

You officially cut a top tooth!  And man we’ll all be glad when those next two teeth are in…plenty of drool, chewing, missed naps and grumpiness.  But thankfully it’s only for a few days, and before we know it you’ll be the cutest woodchuck around with just your front 4 teeth!!

We’re currently in the middle of planning your first birthday party. And it’s impossible to believe you’re almost 1. You’ve grown so much in the last 10 months, but there’s so much on the horizon, and we can’t wait until the next big milestone.  Now, Onto month 10!

    Sara - Dear Lexi,
10 months! I can’t believe how big you’ve gotten. Auntie Sara still feels cheated that she hasn’t “met” you yet, but as soon as you start chatting away, there are many Facetime and Skype dates in our future. I’m so glad you are taking to the snow and the water. Mommy and Daddy have you well prepared to enjoy all the great aspects of being a California girl.
    Hope to see you soonishly!
