hello erin »

the style file.

Hey party people! Today is the very FIRST day of our kid-tested & mom-approved link up. . . I hope you’ll keep checking back over the next few weeks- because we have a LOT of fun in store for you!

I’m a total lover of all things sparkley and girly. While i was pregnant i had dreams of being mom to a little lady. I’d dress her in bows, ruffles, and dresses. She’d be a little lady and romp around in flowers, and let me dress her the way i wanted forever. Well, that was exactly what happened for the first year- i got to pick out her outfits, she had no say, and went on her merry way. And then all that came to a screeching stop when Lex decided she had opinions.

1. Necklaces. This babe LOVES her necklaces. She actually gets upset if she’s not wearing one, and absolutely LOVES the attention she gets when people tell her they just “love her necklace”. It started off with my necklaces- i’d let her play with them while i was getting dressed, wear them around the house- one day it al changed and she decided that she HAD to wear them out of the house. I fully caved and started lex’s own necklace collection. Our favorite necklaces right now are juniorbeads– (we have every color) they’re safe for little ones to chew on, have a break-away clasp, and the most important part- they glow in the dark!

2. The closet. I recently moved all of lex’s clothes to the bottom rod of her closet so she has “easy access” to all of her clothes. Each and every day she helps me choose what she’ll wear for the day. And she totally has her go-to favorite outfits- from rompers and dresses, to tanks & pants- she loves having a say in what she wears. Actually, she insists on getting a say. Luckily most of her clothes match each-other and we haven’t gotten too many crazy outfits recently (although once she puts her tu-tu on its a major fight to get it off). Our hands down fav brands are GAP, splendid, mini-boden, target, Jonah love, PEEK & anywhere else lex spots something she HAS to have.

3. Shoes. My oh my shoes. This babe LOVES her shoes. She’ll sit down forever and play with her shoes, putting them on- taking them off. Mis-matching everything. Her favorite shoes these days? Purple rain-boots. She insists on wearing them pretty much anywhere I’ll let her. To the library for storytime. To the fountain for splash time. on walks. romping around the backyard. watering plants, out to breakfast. and everything in between. Lex also has a soft spot for her kitty shoes, mary-jane jellies, gold sweetheart sandals, and glitter crocs.

4. The Swim Drawer. My major obsession with little girl swim suits has definitely been passed along to lex. I think its because she knows when we throw on a suit it means something F-U-N is involved. She loves anything and everything water related- from swim lessons, romping at the beach, running through the fountain, or just playing with her water table at home- she doesnt stop laughing and smiling when water is involved. When that swim drawer opens she’s there in a flash to “help me” pick out the exact suit she wants to wear. She has over twenty suits in her current size (which is something i never, ever wanted my husband to know. sorry babe).

Basically this kid has style. And way more style than i do! She LOVES getting dressed, changing outfits, and is far more opinionated than i ever expected her to be.

Courtney - Putting her clothes on the lower rack so she can help you choose her clothes for the day? Absolutely brilliant! I love that idea!

I just adore everything you put her in(and that she chooses for herself) She is just the cutest little thing.
