hello erin »

this year.

My new years resolution is always the same, and always pretty lame. To floss more. I mean healthy teeth aren’t a joke. . . especially with a dentist in the family. This year I think i’m going to add a few things to my list. . .

*buy less “stuff”. we recently did a major overhaul on our house in the cleaning sense. The playroom got totally emptied and gone through, my giant closet got emptied (its being turned into a bedroom this month), and the attic and basement are officially organized. This process taught me that we have a lot of “stuff”. Stuff we don’t need, want, and probably didn’t necessarily need to begin with. The big game plan is to only buy what we need/really really want and ditch everything in-between.

* be silly & happy. I love the times we spend with lex smiling, laughing, and just enjoying life. She’s just so happy, and silly, and its refreshing to be silly and happy right along with her. I feel like we’re a genuinely happy bunch, we’re grateful for all that we have, and are the happiest we’ve ever been. I don’t ever want that to change!

* enjoy the little stuff. Its pretty awesome having a toddler who finds joy in things like sweeping (wonder why i waited until christmas to give her a broom?), and putting lotion on, and doing the laundry, and walking the dog. She thinks its all SO AWESOME. and it makes everything way funner when she smiling along and enjoying it all.

* eat better & work out more. (Because the gym won’t be crowded enough with everyone who’s said the same thing. I actually hate this time of the year at the gym. . . ) I feel like I’ve been on the right track the last few months- and i pretty much want to stay on the wagon and maybe finally be happy with my body! Eating less fudge would probably help my cause. . . damn the christmas goodie season.

Happy New Year from the sunny slopes of Mammoth!

* and a VERY happy birthday to my soon-to-be sister in law. We can’t wait for a little pizza party action tonight!

Sara - I pretty much love this entire post… except I wish you lived closer so we could embrace the little things together… and go to the gym… because going to the gym is WAY BETTER with a friend. At least, that’s my excuse for why I haven’t been in 2 years. 😉

EHayes - great list, definitely sharing lots of the same themes there too!

Jenny - I think my favorite is “to be silly & happy”. I know I could just “be” a lot more often. While I love checking off my to do list – I have a better day when I just let the day flow!

Courtney - Flossing more seriously made me lol. It’s actually a good goal it just caught me totally off guard, haha! I agree totally with Julie. Um, can you mail me anything you’re getting rid of? For serious. Crossing my fingers we’re close to the same size… 😉

Courtney Patterson - Wait…is there any other way to be other than silly and goofy?? If nothing else, I’ll have that perfected for 2014! And I’m totally feeling you on the less stuff vibe – I have the urge to purge! Happy New Year!!

Courtney B - Can I just copy your list? I love everything on it… INCLUDING the flossing. Going to the dentist twice a year is ACTUALLY on my list. I’m making our appointments next week becaaaaaaaause… OMG… I haven’t been since before I got pregnant. I know, that. is. HORRIFYING. Don’t unfriend me. (to be fair I’ve never had a cavitiy AND 2013 really flew by. I think it should still be Feb. Okay? Okay, you’re right. THERE IS NO EXCUSE!)
Thank goodness our weather has been so nice (high 40’s for the win) so I’ve been running outside all week instead of trying to beat the crowds at the gym.
