hello erin »

F I V E on friday.

Thank you all for the uber sweet birthday wishes last week!! I had such an amazing birthday & birthday weekend. and have managed to continue to stuff myself full of cake and cupcakes all this week. Last weekend was a total whirlwind- we celebrated my birthday friday night with a little pizza and book of mormon action (my husband surprised me with the MOST AMAZING SEATS EVER), saturday we hit dodger stadium to watch the ducks vs kings outdoor hockey game- and i rounded out the weekend by co-hosting a sprinkle for a few sweet mamas to be. This weekend should be a little less exciting- but just as fun!

Brought to you by the lovely ladies behind: The Good Life. A. Liz Adventures. Carolina Charm. & Hello! Happiness.

My sweet friend heather gave me a few fun straws as a part of a birthday present (the other part was delicious cupcakes. . . which have been gone for days). I’m OBSESSED with the mustache straw. . . and am totally guilty of putting it in all of lex’s drinks.

Guess what you get surprised with for attending a personal training session on your birthday at equinox? a FREE MASSAGE at their spa. no joke- i got to cash in on said free massage yesterday. Totally worth the insane “birthday workout” my trainer put me though. . . which just so happened to mean i had to do 30 reps of everything. yes ladies and gentleman EVEN PUSHUPS.  and yes, i’m fully ashamed of this blurry picture. . . lets just pretend its because i was running SO FAST.

Pottery barn kids came out with a whole bunch of new fun summer stuff. I keep finding thing we 100% HAVE TO HAVE. like a mermaid towel, a new fun tote bag, and definitely these dishes.

I’m kinda really bad at keeping up-to-date on all things world related. I seriously get stuck in my own little world and just don’t pay attention or watch the news. Like 6 months ago i started receiving a daily email called “the skimm” and i’m OBSESSED. it condenses all major events into an easy to read quick email. It’s not conservative or liberal, it just provides an oh so basic understanding so you dont feel quite so dumb about what’s happening out there.

we didn’t actually make it to the theatre to see Frozen. But I definitely went ahead and pre-ordered our copy this week. and am SO excited for march 18th! We got the blu-ray, DVD & digital download combo. Which pretty much covers all our bases on where we’ll be watching it. Pretty sure this is going to quickly become one of lex’s favs!

Jenny - The skimm?! GENIUS! I have always felt out of the loop on major stuff this is great! Pottery Barn Kids – oh how I love thee… I haven’t looked at the new catalog yet on purpose for fear of wanting to buy it all… those dishes totally rock! 🙂 Yay for birthday massages!!

Tara - Sounds like your birthday week was awesome! Love those dishes and I totally asked for a preordered copy of Frozen as a birthday gift, even though we haven’t seen it yet either. Happy weekend!

Jess - I love the straw!! I need one for Cam (and maybe me, too).

Cam is so into Disney/Pixar movies lately, so I am thinking about ordering Frozen since I really want to see it!! Haha 🙂

    Happy Weekend!

Courtney Wilson - I am all about 1-4. A free massage is a totally awesome kickback. LUCKY YOU! And… Happy Birthday! And I totally just signed up for the Skimm- hoping it cuts my news reading time in half.

Jess T. - We’re dying to see Frozen, too! I need to pre-order it! And I definitely need to check out The Skimm. My husband is forever talking about what’s going on in the world (and his opinions on it all) and my eyes immediately glaze over and my brain wanders off into lala land….so this would totally be up my alley…I could spare myself from his ramblings and actually know what’s going on. Ha!
Lex + that straw? Pretty much the cutest thing ever!
Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Kelli Gilbert - at least you got work hard on your birthday! and with a massage at the end! awesome! you will love frozen!

  • January 31, 2014 - 10:32 am

Elizabeth - I totally agree with you! I never have any idea about what is going on around the world because instead of watching the news we are watching… Mickey Mouse. I set my phone to the CNN alerts so it pops up on my phone when something important happens but I just subscribed to the skimm also. So smart! Thanks for sharing!

Courtney - March 18th!!! Can’t wait! The soundtrack is on repeat at our house 24/7. Maybe I’m dense, but why do they make dishes for PBK?

Brittney - You deserve a massage for working out on your birthday! I think that’s a law somewhere! 🙂 I love The Skimm too. It makes me feel much more in the know!

Courtney B - Free massage?! YES! Did I mention that Eric got me a spa day gift certificate for my birthday? I’m dying to cash in on it ever since hearing about your spa day with friends! p.s. Have I mentioned how smokin’ you are?! Your hard work is TOTALLY paying off! (Okay, I thought you looked great before!)
Did you pre order from Amazon?
And I’m totally signing up for Skimm.
