book report – stars, pilgrimages & panties.

book report

I’ve definitely been reading up a storm the past few weeks. I swear i go in spurts where i’ll read three books a week- and then into a lull where i read nothing for a month. I must say i love the whirlwind of a good book. Here’s what my kindle’s been filled with lately.

the fault in our stars. this one caught my attention after seeing the preview for the movie coming out this summer (embarrassing right?) and since i’m a giant sucker for teen books it quickly made it to the tippy top of my list. I LOVE THIS BOOK. i literally fell in love with the characters right off the bat and couldn’t put the book down i was so wrapped up in its story. Its a story of two teenagers who meet at a cancer survivors meeting and fall in love. Of course there’s tragedy, and i definitely cried more than once. READ THIS BOOK (like ASAP. before the movie comes out and spoils it all for you).

the unlikely pilgrimage of harold fry. i wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when i started this book. but i ended up getting SO wrapped up in it. Its the story of a man who receives a letter from a friend dying of cancer and while on his way to the mailbox to send her a letter decides to walk over 500 miles to get to her- asking her to stay alive until he gets there. I loved reading about his journey, his past, the people he met, and his wife’s perspective.

big girl panties. oh how i love me romantic chic novels. and i definitely loved this one enough to read it over the course of a day (but in my defense a plane ride was involved). its a quirky love story between a widow and her trainer after she decides to get in shape. Of course there’s the obvious twist, turn, and drama. but it was definitely cute and lovable (although the reviews claim there’s a lot of “fat shaming”? i didn’t read that much into the book for it to bother me- maybe its because one of my fav books is jemima j?)

Ericka - I’m currently reading Jemima J. Picked it up a garage sales a few years ago and finally decided to start reading it. Glad to hear it’s one of your favorites…now I need to sit down and get reading–I’m only about 1/4 of the way through so far.
