little things. . . like the beach.

I’m linking up again this week with jess and ashley for their awesome little things link up!

I’ve always been a little terrified of the ocean. I mean there’s living THINGS in there. My husband- LOVES the water, he’s a surfer, paddle-boarder, swimmer, and anything else you can do in the ocean-er. Give me a pool and a lounge chair any day. Lex totally takes after my husband. i LOVE that she’s growing up so close to the ocean and hopefully wont be quite as terrified as i am about what lurks in the water. This weekend we had some gorgeous weather (seriously, this is NOT winter). And took the opportunity to hit the sand.  The beach is totally this girls happy place- and i’m SO thankful we live walking distance to the ocean. This summer lex is going to be a beach fiend, i can already tell- between collecting rocks, burying herself in the sand, and just galloping through the waves she’s bigger and way better suited for the beach.

Pretty sure as soon as she’s old enough she’ll be begging to learn how to surf. I wonder just how small they make wet-suits. . . .

  • Jenny

I love her little swim outfit and the water splashing around her feet!!! I seriously need some beach time! 🙂

  • Oh my gosh! I a, so jealous! I have spring fever like you would not believe, I am cleaning like crazy, buying spring items online, and cooking warm weather food to try to distract myself from all of the crappy snow on the ground outside of my window, haha

  • I grew up at the beach and wish so badly that A (and K) could have the waves near by. Lex is a lucky girl, and you are just like my husband hating the water, so funny!

  • These pictures are amazing!! I feel the same way you do, so I’m glad Lex takes after Sir!! Send that sunshine my way please!!

  • Oh my goodness. So jealous, walking distance of the beach. Water is my happy place, ocean, lake, pool, anything I can get in. I wish we were closer to an ocean. My husband has your same feelings, things live in the ocean. I cannot wait to see pics of little Lex learning to surf. She is absolutely precious. She looks so happy to be out in the sand and sun!

  • This makes me miss home (Florida) so bad! I wish Rae had more time to soak up all the beach fun!!

  • Oh my gosh…that face is pure joy!!! I love that she loves the beach!! Last year, before Cam could walk, he would just crawl right into the waves without a fear! I love that! I cannot wait for summer and beach and NO SNOW!!! I think we are getting all of your winter!!! Haha

  • I can’t even tell you how jealous I am that you are within walking distance from a beach! I also cannot believe that it is warm enough to be in the water there. I love Lex’s face in that last picture! 🙂

  • She is so happy! There is no doubt she’s happy with the sand between her toes! Do you use anything special to protect your camera from the sand at the beach?

  • Awwh how cute are these photos

  • Ok, when can we come visit?! We had Sadie at the beach when she was 8 weeks old for a big week-long family reunion/vacay with Jason’s entire family…obviously she was too little to know how totally freaking awesome it was! My mom and I were just saying the other day that we need to try to get her to the beach somewhere this summer because she would LOVE it! This pictures are so precious (and make me totally ready for summer!)

  • Oh girl. I don’t do the ocean either. I won’t even go ankle deep because I can see the schools of fish swimming around. No no no no no. That being said, Lex looks so adorable in her suit! I love it!

  • I am so with you. I’m not a fan of the ocean…or at least going in it. We used to visit my grandpa in Florida every summer and he lived on the beach. Instead of going to the ocean , I opted for the pool! LOL

  • She is such a little beach babe!

  • I’m the exact same way as you (apprehensive about the water) and my husband is the same as yours (fearless)! I hope Mac takes after my hubby too and does much better with the ocean than I do. I think any exposure helps. I had very little ocean contact growing up, whereas my husband went quite often. We’re hoping to Mac as much as possible. I’m so jealous that you guys live so close! Why do I live in Missouri again??

  • Okay, I’ve never been scared of the ocean until my adult days! My brother and SIL got married in San Diego a little over 4 years ago. I was looking forward to beach days in between wedding stuff. Of course Shark Week was on the week leading up to our trip, and I’d never seen if before. I was hooked! Eric and I could not stop watching! Fast forward to our beach day. You better believe I was TERRIFIED to step foot in the ocean. Terrified!! I mean, sharks can get you in ankle deep water so I couldn’t even go that deep! (and then I did get brave and tried to go boogie boarding when a wave washed my top off and I didn’t realize it until I noticed my dad looking at my funny then hurried and looked away…. but that’s a story for another time) Shark Week has forever ruined my love for the ocean. We’ve been snorkeling in Hawaii since and you better believe that I was positive a shark was coming for me each time I turned around (even though we saw zero sharks).
You live within walking distance? Heaven! Can I just move in for the summer? I do love the beach even though I’m scared of the water 🙂

  • Ahhh the beach…gorgeous! What a sweet little girl and the fact that she isn’t scared of it at all…how amazing!
